Lupus and Exercise

My favorite! Flat abs workout :)
Due to fear of having osteonecrosis, my doctor advise me to have healthy lifestyle, diet and EXERCISE! As much as possible, he did not want me to gain weight. Caltrate + a glass of milk is a must also since I've been taking steroids for years. :) So, I keep on encouraging myself that I should exercise and maintain my body. Kuya Jr, my cousin/kuya, suggested Zumba for my daily exercise. He even gave me a copy of flat abs workout, cardio, live zumba and zumba basics.
Felt so great after doing the flat abs workout :)))))) Sorry for my puffy eyes! :D

Lupus and Sunlight

It does not mean that you will not enjoy life if your doctor diagnosed you with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. Protecting yourself from sun exposure is an essential part of lupus management because it may cause lupus rash or can even trigger a serious flare of the disease itself. But what can I do? It's summer time! I'm not avoiding the sunlight but I'm trying to avoid excessive sun exposure. (still a compliant patient here :) ) Make sure you are equipped with the proper protection from the sun.  Sunblock lotion with high SPF, hat, pashmina, umbrella, shades especially those who are photosensitive like me.

So here are some pictures from our Baler trip. (plus our 5th year anniversary celebration )

With my date :)

Before going up.

Pashmina: To keep me safe from sun exposure. :)

with ate Rachel :) still I'm ok :)

MOTHER FALLS :)

But first, consult your doctor if he will allow you  to do these kind of activities. ;)

Obligatory jumpshot :)

2014: The Attack of Shingles

Hi everyone! How are you my dear Lupies? Wishing you a pain-free and a happy day.
Just want to share a little update on my lupus life. Yes, I'm suffering now the pain brought about shingles.

Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is caused by the Varicella zoster virus, which is also responsible for chickenpox. It occurs because of a reactivation of the chickenpox virus, which remains in the nerve cells of the body after an attack of chickenpox. People who contract chickenpox are at risk of developing shingles later in life, since the virus lies dormant in the body. Anyone who has had chickenpox can develop shingles. However, people who have never had chickenpox can catch the virus from another person with shingles. A person who has never had chickenpox, but comes into contact with a case of shingles, could develop chickenpox (not shingles).

Symptoms of shingles

Shingles is a skin rash characterised by pain and blistering. Tender, painful skin signals the beginning of an attack. The skin then turns red and breaks out in tiny fluid-filled blisters. Shingles can affect any part of the body including the face. Classically, the rash caused by shingles takes the shape of a belt or band around or across the body. The rash forms its characteristic pattern because the virus works down the nerves that branch out from the spinal cord and encircle the body. The chest and stomach are most commonly affected. The rash can last for a few days or weeks. During that time, a scaly crust might appear. Once the attack is over, the skin usually returns to normal, but there can be some scarring in severe cases. (Source: betterhealth.gov.au)

Due to weakened immune system, we lupies are prone to different diseases, so it is very important to eat a balanced diet and take vitamin C.  Never let stress consume your body.

Remember:

"I am a strong person..
This pain will eventually heal.
This illness will soon fade away.
There is no sickness that can stop me from everything.
I will fight because I know I can.
I will show strength in times of weakness.
I will smile though I can feel pain.
I will cherish every second of my life."

February 14, 2013 :) It feels so good knowing I am a part of their Valentine's Day. People from other countries asked me if I can surprise their loved ones here in the Philippines. Also, I made this candy roses and sell them on the day itself. I put the butterfly not only for design purposes but it represents my SLE journey. Around the World

Wanna travel the world in just 1 day? Or maybe few hours only. Shenzhen, China's Window of the World made it possible for us to explore the world . Our itinerary for that day was only Shenzhen tour then we'll go back to Hongkong. Good thing, 2 persons in the group requested to our tour guide if we can minimize the time in Shenzhen tour then spend 1 hour in Window of the World. Our tour guide (Sir Jayson) granted our request and we are allowed to be inside for about 1 and a half hour.

I tried my best to do research about the attractions inside and out. Just inform me if I made some mistakes. :)

So those are just 1/4 of our pictures in Window of the World. If you wanna see the whole world, better go here and explore it. You should spend I think 8 hours will do but also try to spend your time watching scheduled shows and experience the different activities inside. Like Disneyland, they will not fail you.
From the World Square to Asia to Europe to Oceania to Africa to America to the Sculpture Park and International Street.
Shenzhen, China's WINDOW of the WORLD: AMAZING!!
